I'm using the WHOQOL-BREF Questionnaire and I'm facing a lot of difficulties with inserting the data on SPSS and making the scoring. Could someone help with a video or a spss file with more detailed instructions on making the calculations?
Also in questions 3,4,26 should I reverse in my data the 1-5 to 5-1 while I'm creating my variables or can I make this reverse at the end of the scoring process?

To reverse your data you just need to subtract the score from the maximum score plus one. In your case
replace q3=6-q3
That's what it would be in stata. The SPSS command must be similar. You would think. Wouldn't you??

I have not checked the code against the scoring manual to verify that the calculations are correct. But I did clean it up a bit (see attached), mostly by removing all of the unnecessary EXECUTE commands. (EXECUTE causes SPSS to read the data file, and if you are working with a large data file, unnecessary EXECUTE commands slow things down incredibly.) HTH.

my own preference is always to leave the variables exactly as they were in the data. If you want to reverse-code them individually you can create a reverse-coded variable with the same name but with a suffix such as _r to show that they are reversed. And, of course, a label that contains the same information. If you just want to reverse-code them to add them up, then the solution you show is fine. I don't know if you can add notes to variables in SPSS but in Stata I would add a note to show the formula I used.Underlying these thoughts is the priority that your data should be interpretable so that if – heaven forefend! – anything were to happen to you, someone would be able to take up where you left off. We had the awful experience of someone leaving to take up a job at short notice, leaving us with four versions of the project dataset that differed in significant details from one another. I had no choice but to start all over with the raw dataset and build a proper datafile!
It should go without saying that every step of the data preparation and data analysis should be saved as a syntax file that you can re-run to reproduce every one of your results. I almost didn't say so.
