Hello, I am looking for a citation which I know goes a long way back, and may have been said by several different people independently. Basically in EFL/ESOL it has been said that what we are trying to teach (i.e. language) is both the mode and medium of how we teach it. In other words, we use Language to teach Language. This is not the case with other subjects, such as Geography or History, which use language to teach about their subject. Any help or citations much appreciated!
