People are running on using iCloud, but they never ask themselfs who has the cloud storage media, there must be hard disks and servers that contains our data pic and movies, etc. Where the iCloud is?
I wonder about this too. Especially with the boom in note keeping and e-records in healthcare. Many of the new offerings are cloud based and run from an i-device. It concerns me that the requirement to ensure patient record safety can not be answered. If the servers are international, then they are not protected by local law.

As far as privacy in concerned, you must read the agreement. But in general, cloud storage are encrypted. They are encrypted with 128 or 256 bits key generated by (AES, 3DES) encryption/decryption algorithms from the the password you create.
There are various kinds and architecture on security and privacy depending upon the provider. Sometimes, it is quite open to the service provider, in which case even if you lose your password, you can retrieve your data. But in other cases, you won't be able to retrieve your content as you are the only person to know the password.
