Who know the review process of Hydrology and Earth System Sciences?
I realize that the review process of HESS is different from traditional journals because this process includes cummunity comments, reviewers comments, editor comments and authors comments. My god.
In the database, we always find some papers with the symbol of Hydrology and Earth System Sciences Discussions.
So I do not know that how the editor board will deal with the papers which are not considered for publication by this journal. Because readers could download the discussion papers without resistance. That is to say, we could not neglect the copy of the papers by other readers or the readers could absorb more innovations and new viewpoints from the discussion papers.
Anyway we hope the discussion papers could be accepted by the EIC.
And I also suppose that the review process of HESS is creative.

As authors, we typically can choose options for publication or presentation. The HESS model seems difficult, perhaps with intent to make sure quality is excellent, reliable, understandable and meaningful for audience. Few of us, can withstand a critical review without correcting errors or improving the work. Reviws are necessary step to professional authorship, but agree no fun, and potentially frustrating if not put into its proper perspective. The article reviews as intensive, and frustrating as they can sometimes be, are not to be taken personnally, just a step to reach toward excellence and efficiency of information transfer. Sometimes collaborating with experienced authors in your subject area may be helpful to improve quality, get exceptance, and carry some of the workload.
