We conducted some research on long-term mental health sequelae after political violence and want to exchange our experiences with researchers from other countries.
We just completed research among internally displaced people (IDPs) affected by the the wars of 1993 and 2008 in Georgia. Dr. Ivdity Chikovani led this research (also member of research gate) and she could provide insights for this project, in case of your interest.
Thank you. That sounds very interesting. I would like to know more about it. People that were imprisoned in the German Democratic Republic (Eastern Germany) between 1949 and 1989 because of political reasons were in our research sample (2008/09). We started to investigate the transmission of politically determined trauma in a sample of offsprings of the victims in 2010/11. I am always curious about research about the psychological situation of victims of political violence in other countries. But, it is difficult to compare the long-term sequalae between countries due to the different forms of political violence.
