In geology, transpression and transtension are srik-slip deformations that deviates from simple shear because of a simultaneous component of, respectively, shortening or extension orthogonal to the deformation zone.
I have worked on Transtensional strike-slip deformation within the Basin and Range based on 1:12000 scale geology mapping. Per my knowledge and references I have read in the Iraqi Zagros there are almost zero documentation of surface Transpresion or transtension features. However, the existence of Transpersion is highly likely to be documented in the Iraqi Kurdistan Zagros belt with the presence of detailed geology maps like 1: 24000 scale or even larger
Within KRI region it is predominantly compressional with minor transpressional features. South and east into Kuwait and northeast Saudi we you find a preponderance of transpressional structures.
