Some scientists choose Benomyl or Topsin-M to creat non-AMF treatment in the grassland. However, some reviewers doubt the function of fungicide because of it also suppress the activity of the pathogen. In this way, we underestimate the effect of AMF in the field.

Fungicides are an option, But as you have already pointed out, this is not a perfect solution.
Some people also use a non-inoculated area for control and then record the differences between the inoculated and the non-inoculated fields.
Complete removal of AMF is not possible without killing all fungi, unfortunately.
