Sustainable management of natural resources is significant if we are to satisfy the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. There has been a fierce debate about sustainable management of resources and who between the state and the adjacent local communities, are well placed to manage these resources.

Forest provide various ecological services. They act as carbon sinks (very important as far as climate change regulation is concerned) and also act as water catchment areas. Their sustainable use and management is important and that why it has been included in the Sustainable Development Goals (No. 15).

Who between the state and community can better manage forest? Any literature will be highly appreciated?
