Over the last five years, I have been researching and writing a PhD Commentary dissertation on the Epistle of James. Because of a lack of finances (I had to care for a sick wife for nine years who died on July 13, 2024), I was unable to register with a school and do this PhD dissertation.
Now, I am looking for a school that will do reverse registration - registering me as a student with my completed dissertation.
I am almost finished with a Doctor of Ministry from MINTS International Seminary. However, the school is not the right fight for my PhD research.
Abstract
This PhD commentary on the Epistle of James provides a contextual, pastoral, and theological exploration of the text, emphasizing its relevance for contemporary Christian life and practice. It examines the historical and cultural background of the epistle, highlighting the socio-economic challenges faced by early Christians. The commentary delves into key themes such as faith and works, the importance of community, and ethical living, offering insights into how these principles can be applied in today's context. By integrating theological reflection with pastoral care, the commentary aims to encourage readers to embody the teachings of James in their daily lives, fostering a deeper understanding of faith that is active and transformative. By offering a multifaceted exploration of the Epistle of James, integrating contextual, pastoral, and theological perspectives, it situates the text within its historical and cultural framework, illuminating the practical wisdom and ethical imperatives James addresses to early Christian communities. From a pastoral standpoint, it provides insights for contemporary application, emphasizing the epistle’s call to faith-driven action, resilience in trials, and communal responsibility. Theologically, it delves into James’ distinctive contributions to Christian doctrine, particularly its focus on the interplay between faith, works, and divine wisdom. This work seeks to bridge scholarly analysis with spiritual guidance, offering a resource for both academic study and pastoral ministry.
