Ultrasound (US) is recognized for its use in medical imaging as a diagnostic tool. It is noninvasive and nonionizing imaging modalities, therefore it is sutable for clinical use.Doppler ultrasound sensor is capable to monitor blood pressure in arteries deep beneath the skin. This sensor could help to detect cardiovascular problems at early stages with greater precision. many researchers reported use of doppler ultrasound traducer in monitoring of blood flow in the carotid artery using phantom and in vivo studies. The popular commercial ultrasond trasducer (UST) has central frequencies ranging from 2.5 MHz to 8 MHz. For low cost sensor, single element or dual element UST may be a good choice in the field of medical research.
Conformal ultrasonic device is the recent advancement in the field of blood vessel observation or BP monitoring. Ch. Wang and groups developed wearable ultrasound patch for real-time continuous monitoring of blood pressure changes in patients with heart or lung disease, as well as patients who are critically ill or undergoing surgery. The wearable device is ultrathin (240 μm) and stretchable (with strains up to 60%), and enables the non-invasive, continuous and accurate monitoring of cardiovascular events from multiple body locations, which should facilitate its use in a variety of clinical environments.
