According to attached picture, Which technique (solution preparation, casting method, casting temprature, drying temprature and ...) is most suitable for sedimentation of (nano)particles in mixed matrix membrane?
Considering the chemico-physical characteristics of the polymer and the nanoparticles involved in the work, I suggest the followings:
- According to the terminal velocity of a falling particle in a fluid and taking into account the thermodynamics of the phase inversion process, reduce the polymer percentage in the dope solution as much as possible. This decreasing the viscosity will help the settling!
- Add an appropriate amount of solvent into the non-solvent to decrease the solvents exchange rate (i.e. increase the phase inversion time to give enough time to the particles to precipitate).
- If the particles are magnetic, simply use a weak magnet beneath the casting plate.
- If possible, use particles with higher density.
- Use a centrifugal force to provide density gradient precipitation of the particles.
