Which species of earthworm is more efficient for the degradation of industrial waste/sludge? And also tell focus on the nutritive efficiency of the manure obtained.
Neeraj Pandey dear sir. Eisenia fetida is a Epigeic earthworms and this species is one of the best for the degradation of the industrial waste/sludge. we can also use Eudrilus eugeniae for the decomposition of the industrial waste but this species not much efficient as Eisenia fetida.
@ Neeraj, to my judgement two best species are Eisenia fetida as mentioned by Dr. Amrit and Lumbricus rubellus. Vermicompost manure is usually contains an average of 1.5–2.2% N, 1.8–2.2% P , 1.0–1.5% K and 0.06 – 0.30% Na beside 9.5 – 17.98% organic C.
