Recently I have studied a lot about dispersion of pristine CNTs in epoxy, I came through many solvents and surfactants but dispersing nano tubes is itself a puzzle and no procedures and materials gave consistent and reproducible results. Anyhow I found acetone and Triton X-100 as an option but not sure that it will work.
I cannot decide which one is best to work with. Can anyone discuss this problem
Why don't you use mechanical methods like roll milling? Dispersion methods are very complicated and it is difficult to get uniform dispersed nanocomposites. BDW, acetone is good one, but problem with acetone it its very fast evaporation causing lots of voids inside your nanocomposite. chloroform and DMF may be good for dispersion.
Dispersion of CNT is not easy.But acid modified CNT is good for uniform dispersion.
Mr Shah, you may want to Edward Chan of General Nano. They have a long CNT that has some nice properties. I will msg you contact information.
The best solvent is Ethanol.The problem is that you need to be sure that all Ethanol is removed from the end product, otherwise the mechanical properties are reduced.
Mam Alisa Buchman can you please mention any literature relating to both acetone and ethanol.
