Which polyoxazoline? PEtOx, PMeOx....? They have different solubilities.

Here is my polymer information: Poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) average Mw ~500,000, PDI 3-4. I tried differents solvents icluding THF,DMF,DCM,Chloroform, DMSO,Ethanol,methanol and water. Among them only water works.
when i dissolve 0.4 gr in 50 ml DI water, solution become gel!

Thank you very much for useful information you shared. yes, it sounds unusual. our synthesized Poly 2-ethyl-2 oxazoline was soluble in mentioned solvents. but we purchased sigma product to compare it with our products. Sigma one was insoluble in mentioned solvents!! we got confused, maybe the product we bought is fake! I have to characterize the material to make sure about quality. unfortunately, our country is still on sanction :( we have problems to buy sigma products online
You also have to consider if it needs stirring (hours) and/or heating.

Poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) can be very soluble in these solvents, but you have to consider the high molar mass. If you think its not actually PEtOx but something else, record and NMR if you can or an IR, both should readily tell you if you have PEtOx

Actually i did not work on gel form of POX! I electrospun it into nanofiber form!
I think Dr. Richard.Hoogenboom , prof of ghent uni, have published some papers about POX hydrogel! you can contact him for additional information about pox based gel procedure.
I did not work on H-MC too! I guess you maybe intend to synthesize green gel without using curing agent or chemical crosslinker like GA. using CNC maybe help you. I am supposed to work on cellulose based gel in future! If I find sth new I will let you now!
