Tecplot can be used for drawing streamlines, it is commercial versions. Alternatively you can try paraview which is an open source software for post processing CFD results.
I will recommend Tecplot, however it is not cheep - about 800$ per license. You can try it for free (14 days) and if you wish they will extend your trial version for couple more weeks. Anyway, I use it and is really worth its cost.
Tecplot is a good choice, but if you are looking for a free solution, Visit Visualization Tool (https://wci.llnl.gov/codes/visit/home.html) or Paraview (http://www.paraview.org/) are two free softwares that are capable of drawing streamlines.
Hi I can see that few of you said that we can use surfer to plot streamlines of a flow in a open channel. I tried in Surfer and cannot see anything. Please give me some further information about how to draw streamlines in Surfer.
In Surfer you should have the stream function to plot streamlines (as iso-contours)
for tecplot you can use the velocity field and the streamline function of tecplot ( you can also use the stream function to plot streamlines as iso-contours)
Hi Liousa, I tried in surfer. There is no way to draw iso-contours with my knowledge. If you know how to plot streamlines in Surfer could you please give me some more details. It is a great help for me.
