I am studying the effect of bacteria on growth and yield of rice. I have carried out pot trials and field trials for the same. I have done ANOVA in SPSS software. Which post hoc test should I use? Tukey's or Fisher's LSD?
The choice largely depends on your familiarity with any one of them. Mostly I use Duncan's multiple range test. You can use any one of your choice. They are comparable in terms of power.
I recommend scheffe's which is useful for unequal sample size
Tukey’s Test The purpose of Tukey’s test is to figure out which groups in your sample differ. It uses the “Honest Significant Difference,” a number that represents the distance between groups, to compare every mean with every other mean.
Scheffé’s Method to look at post-hoc comparisons in general (as opposed to just pairwise comparisons). Scheffe’s controls for the overall confidence level. It is customarily used with unequal sample sizes.
