For some crystals even the shape can help yo distinguish between lefr and right forms (twins). For physical properties, look for the optical activity, left and right crystals rotate polarization plane of the light in opposite directions.
Well, not only optical, but acoustic activity also may help. Depends on the rotatory power and the size of your crystals, maybe it will be relatively easy to determine with elastic waves...
This I meant with my comment: except of polarization direction. The habit is only then helpful when single crystals are well shaped. In polycrystalline objects this is unikely.

If the crystalis well formed and has secondary and tertiary face, morphology can sometimes indicate which type.
If the crystal faces are well developed, try to look for the general form (hkīl) ‘trigonal trapezohedron’ and or ‘trigonal bipyramid’ (112¯1) form. Of course, only in rare occasions you will find the development of these forms.
The other way is to find the rotation in optic figure using a thick slice taken parallel to basal plane.
