While working with organic dyes in different solvents how is the thermal energy of system affected. The thermal energy of the molecule which is described as a sum of kinetic and potential energy of the molecule is modified in the presence of continuum solvents. It may increase or decrease as a function of solvent dielectric constant (epsilon). Is there a mathematical relationship governing this phenomenon i.e the relationship of energy to dielectric constant. What is the underlying Physics behind this.
