In these case, aliphatic amines have lower melting point than aromatic amine in metal complexes. Why it shows like this?
Dear Kumar; This may not be always true. Melting point of a metal complex depends on a number of factors, particularly, the nature and molecular wt of the ligand. Size of ring (4---6 members) in the complex. Melting point may also depend on the polymerisation of the complex (dimer and/or more).
The melting point depends on the nature of bonding between the metal ion and the ligand. Also, the bond length between the reactants is a main factor.
