It depends on the application. For control propouses, triangular or trapezoidal functions are better.

Trapezoidal functions are better because you get more accurate results using this method. but, in the interval method, only one upper and lower bound is calculated.

Dear Dharmadas,

I agree with Mohammad Tavassoli. The definition of the problem by trapezoidal function provide more sensitivity and accuracy comparing to interval method. You can find some papers about that.
