Suppose that for a given location we know (from radiosounding measurements) the profiles of dewpoint temperature, relative humidity, and mixing ratio.
Which one of these would be most suitable for determining the sublayer of given width-say 160 mb- with the highest moisture content within a given layer -say the first 240 mb from the ground?
I'm not familiar your unit of measure , for width , mb, but each layer moisture content is a dielectric layer where moisture content would affect the layer capacitance which is due to dielectric constant of cold water around 85 compared to dry, some much lower value where air=1.
It also affects conductivity so return loss from spectral sweeps will indicate peaks in dissipation factor and return loss. as well as impedance inversion from standing waves if tthe 1/4 wavelength peak is found.
I know someone who developed radar phase arrays to detect surface mine coal deposits and have used Eddy current in my past for detecting nuclear tube anomalies.
Thank you for your interesting answer! It seems that your suggestion comes from a field outside atmospheric sciences. I am interested in measuring moisture content in the open atmosphere by launching radiosondes. Unfortunately, they are not equipped with sensors measuring (moist) air conductivity.
