IWI is like WI but involves knowing accurately the volume of solution needed. This will lead to better dispersion of the metal in most cases. There will be no separation, only drying to remove solvent.

Sol-gel will often lead to porous materials with high surface areas. It provides a high degree of control over properties and allows dispersion at the atomic level.

Physical mixing is the simplest method, but as if often the case with the simpler methods, advantages (other than simplicity) are often lacking.

It would be advisable in your case to check some fundamental texts (e.g. Ertl or Krijn de Jong textbooks on catalysis) to understand differences in more detail. Secondly it would be good to think about the properties you need your catalyst to have - stability, high dispersion, simplicity of synthesis for large scale etc.

The four methods may be used, but depends on what are your desired catalyst. Thinking about biodiesel application, you must remember that the catalyst, active phase or components must not be soluble in the reaction medium.

Dr Poco, what main advantage does Impregnation method has over other methods for oxidation reaction using molecular oxygen (gaseous phase reaction)?

Dear Lindelani. Could open a new question for this new subject. I learned that using impregnation you can control where your metal would be at the support particle radius: Ex: surface, center, a designed profile from the surface to particle center. It is useful to save expensive noble metals.

In oxidation catalysts sometimes you must use the "site isolation" strategy to avoid over-oxydation of your. Do not forget about flamability/explosivity concentration limits.

For clarification sake, you mean control by changing the relative parameters during catalyst preparation OR this is a basic theoretical principle of this method among others?

On the industrial context, what can be said about this method, is the ease of scaling up of the method the main concept with regard to this?
