I synthesized a ZSM-5 zeolite with a high content of sodium (I used NaOH) and I observed some bars with the crystals of the zeolites. In the XRD pattern we only observed ZSM-5 and a impurity of mordenite. In the EDS analysis we observed a Si / Al = 4 in the bars and a 20% of carbon.
Please perform XRD analysis. There, if a strange peak appears along with your main phase, then you may have impurity phase in your sample. then you can try to find the unknown phase. Usually, it is rather difficult to obtain pure phase using hydro-thermal process
It is necessary to make punctual analysis (EDS) of the observed bars.
Do a slow XRD scan, maybe you have other phases. IZA provides the diffraction pattern for zeolites. If the sample is one single phase, it may just be a problem of particle control, elongated ZSM-5 has been reported in the literature.
