If you try to modify metal oxides with bidimensional carbon materials such as graphene, graphene oxide or reduced graphene oxide, I would like to know whether carbon sp2 or carbon sp3 is more suitable for the creation of oxygen vacancies in a metal oxide crystal structure.

sp2 carbon is more likely to create oxygen vacancies in metal oxides due to its higher reactivity and stronger reducing potential compared to sp3 carbon. The π bond in sp2 carbon facilitates electron donation, potentially reducing metal ions and creating oxygen vacancies more readily than the fully saturated sp3 carbon structure.
