I am working with various plant extracts against bacteria all i realised is that the plant extracts extracted by more polar solvents are showing good activity against quorum quenching of a given bacteria. I wish to carry out TLC on these extracts but am worried on the solvent that i can use as my mobile phase. Kindly advice me
As most of the report says for thin layer chromatography methanol and water in the ratio of 60:40 is ideal for well resolved chromatograms.

between MeOH and EtOH the most important difference is the polarity; EtOH 06.54 and MeOH 0.791. The density is approximately the same. In your case, the mixture between water and one of both of them, the biggest polarity difference is with EtOH, but his price is higher compared with MeOH and probably you can find I mixture between H2O:MeOH to compensate this polarity difference.
Separation by tlc depends on the nature of the desired pure compounds, stationary phase and mobile phase. The solvent selected for initial tlc should be less polar then the solvent used for extraction of plant crude extract.
