I re-read your question and it is clear that you are talking about a rectification process; right?

If your answer is yes l, then the power factor is already unity at the DC side. The main concern is, however, the smoothing of the DC voltage variations. Fixed shunt capcitors are then the most utilized component for that purpose. You will find the selection of capacitor criterion in the vast majority of power electronics books, such as Rashid's book.

@Mohamed EL-Shimy Sir, the power factor correction of input side is desired. And the problem is not only the poor power factor, it is also about the source current contamination. The THD in source current is very high and thus it is required to improve the power factor as well as the conditioning of source side current. The fixed capacitor is not the solution for this problem so we require the most suitable technique for AC-DC-DC conversion with least THD in source current as well as the best power factor.
