I want to do certain analysis with surface as well as wind speeds at certain pressure levels (500 hPa, 850 hPa,1000hPa). Kindly, let me know the best available wind data in terms of the resolution (preferably 25km x 25 km), as well as good temporal resolution (3 to 6hr.)
Till now i have an option of CFSR, ERAinterim and Reanalysis. However,I want something like TRMM for precipitation, is there any observed wind global datasource ?

As of my knowledge, NOAA data set is also good. But I can say ERA-interim is one of the best for gridded data and at a different pressure levels.

U can use ERA5 data which has 0.25 resolution and has 1hr temporal resolution.
Else u get it from ERA-Interim which is 0.125 resolution and has temporal resolution of 3hrs.

Hello I would like to download data from the ERA5 data from ECMWF website.
Can I download directly from the CDS website and specific the location that I would like the date for.
I want wind, wave and current data for a specific location over a specific time period?
