The depth of analysis depends on your research problem, hypotheses (if any), study objectives, and model (if any) you investigate. However, some studies focus on descriptive statistics since they presume that is enough. However, descriptive statistics are important for inferential statistics. Hence, if possible, you may go with inferential statistical analysis that can incorporate descriptive statistics too meaningfully. Also, the contents of your study become richer and better from an analysis perspective.
