No change, because politicians will do the politics (oups the business) as usual.

They are not going to change a single iota and almost nothing will change, because global economy superimposed to the world since at least 3 decades, is much stronger than any political expectations, and the corrupted politicians responsible (directly or indirectly) of this worlwide tragedy will remain and will last well after covid-19 and many other covids to come thanks to them.

Although this is a timely question, I am not sure that the underlying premise is correct. It is true of discussions taking place in scientific forae, which have indeed focused on public health, the environment, and the economy, and especially the enhanced role of information technologies in reshaping how we interact socially and in business. In contrast however, there is no shortage of discussion about political consequences and related considerations in the mainstream media of many countries, and we should also be following that. In fact, the impact of COVID-19 on national economies in itself is a major political reality that all countries now must deal with. To take an obvious example, the general disarray in the pandemic response in the USA (now the world’s largest epicentre) has become a major consideration in shifting public opinion going into their November Presidential election; it has also further undermined the level of respect that many other countries have traditionally held for the historical quality of US leadership e.g., withdrawal of WHO funding as a tool for domestic political distraction. At the other end of the global political spectrum, international trust in the leadership of China has clearly eroded, due to issues of lack of transparency regarding COVID origins and trends leading to the pandemic. In all countries, even tiny New Zealand where the greatest success in epidemic control may just have been demonstrated, public health measures have raised issues regarding the extent to which the state should be controlling individual liberty, alongside equally serious concerns regarding damage to the economy (again an inescapable political consideration). All this noted, I do agree that there is increased potential now for nations to become more open to political change, both domestically and in the world order. This opportunity could be a force for the common good, depending on how it is managed. For countries whose health systems have been exposed for their weaknesses, it creates opportunity for needed improvements (again a political issue in most settings). And globally, for multilateral organizations like the WHO, the case for reform and strengthening is now perhaps a little more obvious than it was before. How well this is managed will ultimately come down to the quality of leadership that emerges over the next few years.

Global political alignment is being redrawn with formation of new lobby groups. Under the new normal, inter-country migration (healthcare workers and young professionals in particular) will be the first impact. This will further have an impact on self reliance and political decisions will need to address the increasing demand for employment at local levels. Public health and health in general will see a massive shift to the digital platform (Telemedicine, AI, IOT etc..).Political decisions will need to recognise the role of this emerging industry.

No change probably. We will go back to what we were.
