A few days ago, the capture team I work deployed an old GPS collar on a mountain lion (Puma concolor). I would like to know about available funding to buy a more modern collars (ideally more than one) to replace both it and GPS-tag other animals.
If someone on your team is under 26 the National Geographic Young Explorer grants could be a good option: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/explorers/grants-programs/young-explorers/
This might also be a good place to look: http://www.panthera.org/kaplan-graduate-awards.
Moreover, you could try writing to the Tompkins Foundation (www.tompkinsconservation.org) or to the Pumalin Park. I think they had some tracked mountain lions few years ago. And perhaps They may be interested to collaborate with you.
