It completely depends upon what aspect of EI you would like to measure!

EI is simply an umbrella term for the affective individual differences. If you want to capture the cognitive ability aspects then the MSCEIT (costs) or the STEM/STEU (free for research) would be a good idea. If you want to capture behavioural preferences/traits then the TEIQue (free for research) is the best currently available. If you want to capture emotionally intelligent behaviour or competencies then maybe looking in the field of Emotion Regulation would be useful?

I echo Tom's answer. Emotional intelligence is a general construct that applies across sectors, and has been operationalized in several ways (self-repor scale, ability tests, etc.). Part of my dissertation was on this topic and I choose the trait route. If you do, you may consider also measuring traditional personality traits as the big five as control in your analyses (see attached article for illustration). If possible, I would go for the MSCEIT because it is a test of ability, which is the most accepted approach to EI (Mayer et al., 2008).

Thank you for your contributions, At the beginning, I was planning to use ESCI Scale because it's free for academic usage, but then I've had some concerns about congruence. There are several articles on relations with health, business, and lots of about leadership of course. So I couldn't find any seperation for engineers. I'm going to check out other scales that you've mentioned, Thanks again, Best wishes,
