The USGS has been building out the 3DEP coverage in the US, https://www.usgs.gov/3d-elevation-program , it will be interesting to make comparisons.

Sure. I don't think many people know about FABDEM and I believe it's a good alternative for researchers who utilize such data in their analysis (I don't do it often).
