I am doing a research aimed at removing ARV drugs from wastewater. I intend to use SPE for extraction and then analyse the treated samples with LC/MS. I am currently trying to identify the most suitable solvents i can use for SPE.
I found several studies regarding the extraction of ARV drugs in wastewater with just a quick google search, so there is definitely more to find.
For example:
Abafe et al. (2018): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.chemosphere.2018.02.105
used Waters Oasis HLB cartridges. Conditioned with MeOH and water; and eluted with MeOH and ethyl acetate (EtAC).
Schoeman et al. (2015): doi:10.4172/2157-7064.1000272
used Agela Cleanert PEP for extraction. Conditioned sequentially with dichlorometane, EtAC, MeOH and 0.1% (v/v/) phosphoric acid; and eluted with EtAC and dichloromethane.
Prasse et al. (2010): https://doi.org/10.1021/es903216p
used Isolute ENV+ cartridges. Conditioned with n-heptane, acetone, MeOH and water; and eluted with MeOH/acetone and 0.2% formic acid.
If I had to choose out of these three I would go with the HLB cartridges, just because I'm more familiar with those.
