Recently I moved to the Mexican state of Veracruz. I've worked in desert lands and cloud forests, but next year I'll be working with mangrove conservation and management, so I'm trying to find out which are the main proficiencies I have to develop for working successfully with mangroves
Excelente Cesar Felicidades, el Ecosistema de manglar es muy interesante, en Veracruz se encuentra gente con amplia experiencia en este ecosistema, ejemplo de ellos son los Drs. Patricia Moreno Casasola y Jorge López Portillo, ambos laboran en el Instituto de Ecología, así mismo considero realices una revisión sobre restauración, una base de datos puede ser, Web of Science, para ampliar un poquito el panorama sobre lo que se ha escrito sobre este tema en el mundo. Tambien considero importante analizar los trabajos del grupo del Cinvestav Merida, a cargo del Dr. Jorge Herrera.

It is difficult to figure out which are the most important topics, there are many mangrove action projects by countries around the world dealing with re-plantation, rehabilitation, community development, ecotourism, or other actions in order to protect and monitor the mangrove forests. Each mangrove area have its own problems (causes, condition, surrounding communities/livelihood) and solution, so it is better if you access some institutions/organizations/NGO that concern to mangrove conservation such as JICA, MAB (Man and Biosphere), mangroveactionproject, mangrovewatch, mangroveconservation, ITTO, or other in web search. so you could learn in detail about the most important topic in mangrove restoration and sustainable management as you wish.

Thanks for all your answers. Obviously, I've mad muy own research on this matter and I've already visited several mangrove forests along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of Mexico. Besides, I have extensively looked for the most important books and articles on basic and applied mangrove ecology. Nonetheless, since I haven't had experiences on mangrove ecology and restoration besides of those of my team, I wanted to know the perspectives from more experienced people. Your comments shall help me improve my future prefomance in mangrove ecosystems.
