simulating IoT requires integration of wireless sensor and embedded systems to the Internet. "6lowpan" is a standard given by IETF to enable the transmission of IPV6 packets over wireless sensor networks, which is one of the most critical requirement to enable IoT. I dont know whether the implementation of "6lowpan" is available on ns2 or not. But, you can use Omnet++ to simulate the same. Read the following link

One option to perform IoT simulation in Ns2 is as follows.

use 802.15.4 interface for sensor nodes

use wired as well as 802,15.4 interface at border routers

used wired interface at intermediate routers

use IP layer on top of wired interface at the router

use AODV or some other routing protocol at wireless interface

Finally, you can see the "wired-cum-wireless simulation" in following tutorial of ns2 to realize an IOT simulation.
