Whether DMAP can be used to acylate primary alcohol group in cellulose with succinic anhydride???

I want to succinylate primary alcohol group in cellulose with succinic anhydride by using DMAP as catalyst.

is it necessary to keep ph of reaction mixture acidic during succinylation???

can we used triethylamine instead of DMAP????

Dear Mohd, when acylate alcohols usually you use DCC or DIC, DMAP and free acid, not acid derivative. More easy is to use acid chloride or anhydride, and there are several options, like Et3N in DCM, CHCl3 or DMF, also just anhydride in pyridine. Search Sci- finder, there are a lot protocols of that i mentioned there.
