Conferences are what you make of them. In addition to presenting your paper and encouraging interest in your work you can get really good ideas. You get to see what others are doing in your field, and how the work in other fields may influence your work. You may also find industry partners. You will never know how to improve your research if you don't go out there, present your work and see what experts in your field have to say about it. My advice is that you should grab this opportunity with both hands and travel.

I wholeheartedly agree with M Talha Junaid. It is well worth the time and effort to travel some distance to present your work. Personally, I have not traveled quite as FAR as you are considering, but nonetheless, you should take advantage of the opportunities for networking with others in your field. If the conference agenda appeals to you also, by all means - go.

I would answer with a conditional yes; however, you need to think about the QUALITY of the conference. I'm not going to comment on the quality of WSEAS, other than to say there are reputable conferences and then there are many others who will accept almost every submitted paper including randomly generated ones, basically as a money-making scam. Be very careful where you submit your work.

In our field, I suggest concentrating on international conferences sponsored by the IEEE, IET or ACM. Things to look out for are full peer review (abstract only paper submission usually indicates weak or no peer review), a low acceptance rate (should be less than 1/3, preferably less than 20%), accepted papers indexed on reputable publication databases (such as IEEExplore), conference is sponsored by a reputable organisation, and conference has been around some years with a good track record (e.g. IEEE Globecom or ICC in telecommunications). The technical program committee should also consist of a wide selection of people from different institutions with strong recent track records in top (high impact) journals.

The actual value of conference publications in terms of your research track record is often quite low - many funding bodies now only want to see a list of your journal papers. However, the main reason to attend a conference is (as mentioned by others) to see what others are doing, get some new ideas, and network with your peers. Weak conferences don't offer that opportunity because they do not attract high quality researchers.

If you are a PhD student - my advice is to focus first on journal papers, and once you have a few (again, in REPUTABLE, HIGH IMPACT journals such as IEEE Transactions) then only consider presenting specific aspects of that work (e.g. applications of the theoretical work from the journal paper) in conferences AFTER you have the journal paper accepted. For a research career, this will add much more value to your work - it is also a lot cheaper (typically free if not overlength or open access, whereas a conference costs you the airfare, accommodation, registration etc. - potentially thousands of dollars).
