It should be noted that information is not equal to knowledge, and knowledge is the product of intellectual thinking, debate, and creativity. the very study does not facilitate knowledge acquiring by itself, although it facilitates information acquiring.
So how could we move towards knowledge?
I think the concept and theory we learn & study at secondary and senior secondary school level forget and when we enter in colleges or university we try to find a new path this is the weakest link between information and language. either we are in college or university and pursue research we must try to link the basic theory and modify them to fit into higher level. we study more and more the book of lower level and during each time we learn some new concept and applications. after few months we can transform our information into knowledge and finally we think itself and develop new concept, theory and idea into reality.
Information becomes knowledge after confrontation with other experiments, scientific discussions and after disappearing of serious doubts about its quality. The comparison is similar as between research and science.

Firstly, as regards the border between information & knowledge, I quote from http://blog.falkayn.com/2011/03/is-knowledge-all-there-is.html:
"At a data level there is a single bit of information, isolated from context and basically without meaning... That data becomes information when meaning is given to it so that a human can more easily understand it. The information becomes knowledge when context is considered... Wisdom is exhibited when that knowledge is applied to my situation..."
Moreover, there is a depicted model on the above URL named 'the wisdom pyramid', also called 'the DIKW pyramid' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIKW), which shows the transition from data to information then to knowledge & finally to wisdom.
Finally, as far as the way to move toward knowledge is concerned, on http://www.co-i-l.com/coil/knowledge-garden/dkescop/dwcurve.shtml there is a graph showing the previous transition adding intelligence between knowledge & wisdom & arguing that the transition to the higher stage is achieved by additional learning & experience. Taking this into account, it could be concluded that the quality, quantity & intimacy of the experience facilitates the transition.
