I am looking for some studies on the quantitative and usage evolution of loudspeakers production.
Is seems obvious that since the invention of the loudspeaker late 19th century, the number of loudspeaker produced and in service has always increased as well as their functionality spread-out, but I could not find studies on that subject yet.
If you know some works on the matter, please let me know.

In the UK we have several museums that have a range of equipment on display, such as the KEF museum. The Science Museum in London has a display on loud speakers and their evolution, including an interactive area for the kids (and us big kids!). I think Warfedale also used to have a musuem / exhibition.
There are some magazine archives that could also help you, such as Hi-Fi world, and Speaker Builder magazine.
Believe me or not, but, - as generally frown upon by ' real ' scholars and so systematically underrated - Wikipedia has a very detailed and elaborated lemma on it, that exceeds the size of an average article in a scientific journal, and ..with a wealth of references to other works on the same subject too!.

Thanks a lot for your help. I did not find a proper study of the global sales volume evolution, except a Wikipedia (loudspeaker) non-sourced affirmation that between 2007 and 2014 the global sales where multiplied by ten.
