I am working on bird diversity. I need some meteorological data for my city or district (Bardhaman/ Burdwan district) for the period of 2013-2016. Some statistics department of our country demands a high amount of money for the data. But, it is a freelance work and I don't have enough money. So, please suggest me with the proper website or database where I can get the data freely.
I can't answer where or if you can get it free, but I can say the united states is the only country that routinely offers data for free. India is notoriously difficult to get data from. If the topography is flat you can get a rough idea of temperature from global model data (GFS) from the US national climatic data center (NCDC), but I wouldn't trust rainfall data from a model.
Also, you can get rough estimates of rainfall (better than a model) from the global precipitation climate project (GPCP). But for both this and the computer model data referred to above, it will take some computer skills to extract the data.
