There are several drugs used for treatment of viral hepatitis now. The most effective is Tenofovir disoproxil (Viread).

Current drugs have 50% chance to show side effects depending on individual genetics. Moreover it cannot wipe out the Hep B virus 100% as Hep C virus. Once someone use tenofovir, he/she has to take it daily for a lifelong. Therefore we need a new solution for HBV

There could be a gene therapy against

hepatitis B.
