When we think about the structural safety under the random vibration, what one should we consider, PSD or Grms?
For example, I can explain my question with the attached PSD figure.
I want to judge the structural safety of some component under the random vibration.
The blue line is the verification PSD for the component. It means the the structural safety of the component can be assured under the blue line. The red line is the response of the component under the random vibration.
Here is my question.
If the grms of blue line is more than the red one, Is the component safe? even if the peak at the natural frequency is over the verification PSD?
How can I understand the safety at the natural frequency?
