Of course we use references when we quote someone else statements or findings, however, sometimes they are bombard to look a research paper heavy.
Can any explain when do we need to use a reference, and how much we can write our own logical statements.
Generally it is written in the Introduction and Literature review section. Sometime in the conclusion part also.

Any time a writer uses the words of another author those borrowed words must be identified with quotation marks or special formatting to show where those words came from. Doing so not only protects you from plagiarism but it also adds an appeal to ethos as you invoke an established expert that you have read and learned from.
Even when it is only the idea you borrow, and not the exact words themselves, your paraphrased quote should name the source that you drew from. Therefore an in-text citation is required any time that the ideas of another are used by a writer.
In research writing the foundation of the research is an important place to cite the work of those that came before you. Any methods you use to investigate an area of study should have a citation or two for the methods and methodologies used. Finally in the conclusion it is common to compare ones research to other research in the field and show the similarities and differences between your research and the existing research to show where your your conclusions refute, confirm, or clarify the existing knowledge. Thereby you carve out a niche for your work.

I have recently came across an article On the folly of rewarding A while hoping for B which is considered management classic, with very few citations. however, when you read the article you will perhaps run with its flow, while argument of Prof. Steven Kerr seems flawless. However, when we read contemprary work of reserach students, we observe bundle of citations in almost every line. Most of us/them probably take these lines without reading the actual articles. The situation arises when requirements are given to quote at least 30 to 40 articles on the subject or at least 4000 to 5000 words in a reserach paper. So students only try to fulfill the quantity. So it is important for me to know what is acutally required. Thank you all.
