I currently read some articles about molecular dynamics simulation, since most rock and metals can be thought to be polycrystalline materials. My question is what's the difference between them (both of them are condensed matter (solid)) when doing the molecular dynamics simulation?

First of all, as a system to perform molecular dynamics calculation, I think it is better to treat the difference in crush propagation of rock and metal as a medium with the same condensed phase but different properties. As already mentioned in my answer to the previous question, I believe that the accuracy of molecular dynamics calculation should be verified using the basic formula used to observe rock crush propagation. Whether the calculation result of molecular dynamics corresponds to the Rankine-Hugoniot equation which expresses the state before and after the shock wave by the formula is very useful for judging the accuracy of calculation. .
