Hi,

I usually use ultrasonic cleaning in a fresh ethanol bath to remove polishing particles from the surface. For a controlled drying without droplets, I rinse the surface with ethanol and use a blow-drier for drying. If the sample surface is tilted, the ethanol runs of the sample surface supported by gravity and the fan. Take care that the last residues of ethanol dry at the back side or a surface that is not essential for your examinations.

Afterwards, you should store the samples in an desiccator to protect the samples from gathering dust. However, if you are not working in a clean room, some dust from the surrounding air will always adhere at the surface.

You can gently wipe the microscope glass slides with pure cellulose soft tissue paper wetted with one drop of isopropyl alcohol. Electrostatically adherent particles of dust from the otherwise clean glass surface may possibly be removed just by using a clean soft dry nylon cloth, a thin camel-hair brush, a rubber air blower, or a canister of pressurized inert dusting gas.

You can rinse them in ethanol and try controlled drying in N2 or Argon flow. After KOH etching, I generally rinse them in ethanol and DI water then dry them in N2 gas flow. I plasma clean the glass before my experiment which removes if any remaining residues. you can find details here

I've been using glass slides made in Germany with ground edges. Now, using a stereo microscope with led ilumination I find out they are not so transparent. They have a kind of crystals which cannot be removed in normal ways (soap, water and alcohol). Does anybody advise me what to do? Or references to buy ultra-transparente slides.
