I know people use both sutures and electrocauterization for arterial ligation in the Vannucci HIE model. I'd like to know how these different methods work. Can you be sure that there is not any blood flow if using a suture (or two)? And if using electrocautery, do you also need suture(s) to minimize the arterial blood flow before performing the cauterization? Also, is there any reason not to use the electrocautery which sounds easier..? Thanks!
