Hello everyone,
After submission of your paper to a certain journal, the editorial office start to handle your paper and select the appropriate editor. This step usually takes between 1 day to a week in most journals. But what will be your action if the journal keep your submitted paper for several months without processing?!!!!!!
If you suggest to withdraw it, what will be the action if you contact the journal asking for withdrawal without response?!!

If it is long time without any processing, you can ask to withdraw the paper by contacting the admin of the journal then the publisher if there is no reply. But once it is under review, I suggest to wait until the process is completed.

Different journal editorial systems use different terms but, after you submit a manuscript, its initial status is typically something like “submitted” or “being processed” or “with editor.” If your manuscript is screened before being sent out for review, then its status won’t change until the editor has had a chance to look at it. If its status still hasn’t changed several months after submission, then you know you’re dealing with a relatively slow editor. Once the editor has viewed your manuscript, its status will ideally change to something like “awaiting reviewer selection” or “under review.”
So, you can send a letter to editor or editor in chief.

Thanks for your reply. What about if the paper stuck with the editorial office and not be sent to the Editor for several months? What if you submit the paper today and after 8-9 months the status is "Awaiting Editorial office" or in other submission online systems "Submitted"?!

8-9 months?!!! absolutely i will withdraw the manuscript without any hesitation.
Another question comes, why the Journal evaluation organization, like Thomson Reuters, don't include the manuscripts' processing stage in the evaluation parameters?
First , I will write a communicating letter on the status of may paper. If they fail to respond me within a week or two, then I will send to another journal. I will also write a DISCONTENTMENT LETTER to the said journal.
