Time has come to think about restructuring rural economy with inclusive growth. Present situation has given an opportunity to ponder over it. I will be grateful for your opinion.
The best way to realise inclusive growth is through developing people's talents. It is said by government authorities that a multidimensional approach towards education and skills development is essential to achieve growth. The challenge of skills shortage can be addressed through public private partnership.
The key components of the inclusive growth strategy included a sharp increase in investment in rural areas, rural infrastructure and agriculture spurt in credit for farmers; increase in rural employment through a unique social safety net and sharp increase in public spending on education and health care.
Mahendra, the question on inclusivity of the rural population in their economic and socio-cultural and material welfare is a salient one. The research interest, however, will be dampened if rural and, often poor, agri-based communities are not given the opportunities as well as the requisite capacity development to partake in their own development and growth. The work of Bolt (2004), among others, comes to mind.
Inputs or opinions are crucial. Make them feel they are important and their needs or opinions are well factored into plans....Agri-based community projects and other sustainable livelihood projects
Govt should focus to invest in rural areas because these kinds of areas has lots of minerals which are very usefull for different industry and labor of these areas can vital role in order yo grow the economy
Inclusive growth in rural economy is related to sustainable growth. Sustainable entrepreneurship could be a way to include inclusive practices in rural environments. I agree with Abrar Hossain Tasin that overcome the digital gap is very important in economic growth, especially in rural areas.
This is a very relevant topic as migrants are shifting to their native place. Most of the people belong to UP and Bihar rural areas. The economic condition of rural areas in these states is not good. There are no proper roads, 24x7 electricity, no proper hospitals or Schools. There cannot be a single thought or thinking about restructuring the rural economy with inclusive growth. In my view the following approach could be adopted:
a) The rural economy of different states varies. Therefore it can be segmented as Early birds, Progressive and finally Mature. The rural economy at UP and Bihar are early birds/infant.
b) The state governments through their panchayat system may do the study what skills set these migrants are having. Many would-be factory workers, construction workers, carpenters, labours, etc.
c) Once their skills are accessed, state government/ private industries in those states may try to absorb the required skills or give training close to the required skill set.
d) State Government may promote rural industry after assessment of the skill set available.
e) State Government / Private industry / NGOs may infuse funds to start rural industry as per available skill set and mentor these migrants to become independent.
Thank you Dear Amit for your detailed inputs. Yes! You got the point relevant to exodus of Indian labour to their native places. Your suggestions are apt in this situation. But, the political will is the real concern for things to happen. Regards.
URBAN & RURAL DISTINCTION. so long as there is a distinction between rural and urban, any attempt to talk or discuss about inclusive growth is just nothing more than a lip service. Urban and rural distinction is a separation and discrimination of economic growth. Most growth and benefits are concentrated in the urban centers: jobs, banks, etc. Where the rural areas are much reserved for farming. This differentiation is economic discrimination.
INCLUSIVITY means equal opportunity to the national resources: education, healthcare, technology, credit, capital, etc. The discussion of inclusivitty is not meaningful as long as there is a distinction and separation between urban and rural economies.
Good morning. There is an interesting study in the Canadian context of the impact/importance of sustaining schools to revitalize rural communities. The study is on the Open Data portal at the Government of Alberta. There are also articles/studies/initiatives regarding encouraging immigration to support rural communities as a way to support inclusiveness: https://open.alberta.ca/publications/9781460131374
