I want to expand an O ring made of elastic material and am looking for the mathematical expression (dynamics) on which the stretch force depends. In addition to this, how does it vary in different environments.
I suppose you know the elastic modulus of the material and the geometrical parameters of the o-ring. Now, how do you want to "stretch" it? Expand it radially while maintaining its circular shape, or stretch it linearly so that it starts looking like a double rope? And what do you intend by "different environments"? Like different temperatures? Whichever the case, the calculation itself should be easy.
With different environments, i exactly mean different temperatures. Can you please help me out with some example or demonstration of the same ? Thanks in advance !
