Hydration and dehydration is the common phenomena in the hardening of cement. Sometimes the hardening occur too fast to get it structure. C-S-H or gypsum is often added to the cement for optimum hardening.
Short-range order means that the crystalline (solid) structure of the CaOxSiO2x H2O (C-S-H) hydrate extends over a short distance, and long-range order means that this structure extends over a large distance. It is necessary to strive to ensure that all nanoparticles in cement powder are bound together in a single solid structure.
